2011 Phil and Jess Down & Dirty

Last Sunday was the 2011 edition of Merrell Down & Dirty 10K Mud Run at Farirmount Park on the Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia. This year the race was presented by Subaru. The race promoters boasted 6000 racers on the trails and in the mud. The race results had slightly over 4600 racers finishing in three different races; a Kids 1 Mile, a 5K and a 10K. Regardless, there were a lot of people there. Merrell really has their shit together, The event was well planned, put together and executed. Props to Merrell…

This is the second year that my daughter Jess and Phil, now her husband, ran the 10K race. Jess finished 757 out of 1457 with a time of 1:10:22. Phil finished 885 out of the same 1457 with a time of 1:13:19. They both ran a great race. Congratulations to Phil & Jess…!! I heard a rumor that the Doyle’s were “ordered” to participate in this event next year….just saying…!!

At last year’s Down & Dirty Robrandi and I tried to bike to all the obstacles. We did a good job but we got lost in the woods on the way back to the mud pit at the finish line so I wasn’t able to get photos of Jess and Phil coming through the mud. This year Robrandi was not able to attend so I made a decision to just photograph at the starting line and then at the mud pit at the finish line. I shot a total of 1065 photos using both my EOS-7D and EOS-20D. I ran out of film…..
