Things are shaping up for the July 4th celebration at the cottage. We had two productive weekends gettin ‘er ready.
Two weeks ago, Lumber Jack Matt and his assistant Brendoodee removed the two Arborvitae and the dead Mountain Laurel near the entrance gate. This makes room for the new “Fannie Gate”. This new gate replaces the old chain that has been there since 124 BC. It is specially designed to help keep Fannie out. It has 6 rungs so it is too tall for her to climb over and too low for her to crawl under.
Seriously, we replaced the chain with the gate because the chain was to heavy for Fannie to handle. We are still letting her in (for the time being).
This past weekend Robrandi wrapped herself in fly paper and rolled thru the Lookout and the Pavillion. She was on a quest to remove all the spider webs, spiders, hellgrammites and stonefly larvae that she could find. We mowed the grass (even though it didn’t need it) and painted the fence along the lane. Fannie and Dusty sneaked around at night to make sure that nothing was missed.
Food assignments are made, the grill is gassed up, and the river looks floatable. All in all, we are ready for the family, friends and a “Special-tee” visit from a pair of Newly-Weds …. oooh awwww..!!
Please be safe when traveling to the July 4th celebration and remember NO HOOPS..!!
