The Economic and Cultural Development Group (ECDG) of Camp Hill will be hosting their 4th annual Plein Air Arts Festival this weekend, May 16-18, 2014. Their website contains loads of information. You can find it here: Camp Hill Arts Festival. Hopefully it will stop raining and the sun will come out for the weekend festivities!
This year the Plein Air photographers had to make their competition images in the week leading up to the festival. This is similar to the requirements of the painters and, in my humble opinion, the way it should be. In addition to the time-frame, the images had to be shot locally in the Central Pa region. This local region includes Cumberland, Dauphin, York, Adams, Perry, Lancaster and Lebanon counties. The deadline for drop off was today at 2:00PM. Now that the deadline has passed I can share my two competition photographs.
The first image is titled “The Wayfarer”. I took the photographs for this image in Willow Park in Camp Hill at the Labyrinth. The second image is titled “Circa 1921 at the Bath House”. It was photographed on City Island, in Harrisburg. I used white mat board cut outs with painted black eyes to fill the existing ventilation holes in the Bath House windows.
Plein Air judging takes place this afternoon and the winners will be announced this evening at 6:00PM at the Collector’s Preview Party. I’m keeping my fingers crossed! Stay tuned…
What do you think? As always, your comments are welcome.

19 May 2014Love the images! They turned out awesome! I really like how they both kind of have this “fun-house/lost in alice and wonderland” feel. Nice work!
