A few weeks ago we drove out to Latrobe for the Allegheny Anesthetists Annual Spring Conference. The journey took us along Route 30, otherwise known as the Lincoln Highway. While Robrandi was in conference I took the opportunity and retraced our drive on Route 30 from Bedford to Latrobe. Along the way I stopped at to photograph some of the oddities and attractions. The photographs in this gallery are from that drive.
The weather was a mix of blue sky, heavy overcast clouds, rain, sleet and snow. Not really the best conditions to be stopping along the highway for random photos. In fact this little adventure ended up being a very expensive trip for me due to unexpected car problems.
Somewhere in the mountains I managed to loose a rear break pad. For most of the drive my rear brakes were metal on metal and the sound was horrendous. As I was returning to Latrobe my steering began to whine with each turn. Well it turns out that my steering rack sprang a leak and self-destructed. For the break pad/rotor and steering rack repair I had to shell out $2500. Ugghhh! Now if you guys out there start ordering prints I’ll get caught up in no time.
