At last evenings Harrisburg Camera Club meeting we reviewed the results of our third Digital Image Competition. The top three scores were very close. Out of a possible 60 total points the results for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place were 59, 58 and 57 respectively. Congratulations to the first place winner, Diane Peresie and to the 2nd place winner Annette Garthwaite.
Diane’s wonderful image is here: Diane Peresie. Annette’s beautiful photo is here: Annette Garthwaite ribbit ribbit!
My image, titled The Workhouse, took 3rd place. It was made in Bufallo, New York, in an abandoned grain elevator complex called Silo City. All three judges liked the image. One of the judges, Bryson Leidich, suggested that cropping the photograph down would make for a stronger image. So without further ado I present To Crop or Not to Crop.
The photo on the left is my original 3rd place submission. The photo on the right is the crop suggested by Bryson. I haven’t made up my mind yet on which one I prefer. Give them both the once over and let me know what you think. All comments, both good and bad, are welcome.

24 Jan 2013I personally like the original. I like the light area in the foreground by the bottom of the picture and the lightness of the pole on the side. Great picture

23 Jan 2013I like the cropped one.

23 Jan 2013I think I actually like the cropped image better because it brings the figure into better focus.
