I am happy to announce that one of my photos from my on going Bowler Man project has been excepted into the Art Association of Harrisburg’s 87th Annual International Juried Exhibition. The juror is Robert M. Mintz, PH.D., the Chief Curator and Curator of Asian Art at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland. The Art Association is located at 21N Front Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101. The show will run from May 15th through June 18th. The awards reception is Saturday, May 16th from 6 to 9PM. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the opening reception but if you find yourself in the local vicinity during the show please stop by. In addition to photographs I believe that the exhibition will contain oil, acrylic & watercolor paintings, sculptures, ceramics and prints & graphics. Sounds like something for everyone.
My photograph, which I titled, “presents:” is shown above. The word “presents:” is actually in the image above and to the left of the Bowler Man. When I first came across the word in post production I felt it had to be the title. So that is what I called it. Last night while matting, framing and preparing the image it became apparent that this might not be the most appropriate title. While I am by no means a religious person, some of my images, including this one have strong religious overtones. Perhaps the Bowler Man is presenting us with a glimpse of purgatory, a place between heaven and hell. Perhaps, “Purgatory” might be the better title.
