I don’t know if any of my friends were watching the America’s Cup. If not, you missed one of the greatest sporting competitions in a long long time.
The final race was today and the Oracle USA Boat and Crew won the Cup. The race was simply fantastic. It was not lame like professional baseball, I didn’t find myself hoping for a crash like professional car racing and refreshingly it was not violent like professional football. It was fun and enthralling. The AC72 catamarans are a first rate piece of high tech technology that is truly amazing. With that said, Robrandi and I were on the water in the San Francisco Bay one year ago in August of 2012, before the preliminary regattas, before the Louis Vuitton Cup, before the American Team was charged 2 points for cheating and I was fortunate enough to capture this image of the Oracle AC45 boat on a practice run.
Not the greatest photograph but I am glad I had the chance to capture it. It’s my 34th America’s Cup story!
