I have written about my daily, noontime walks along the Susquehanna and specifically about death on the river before, however, yesterday’s walk was very saddening. I saw more death on the river, a dead Heron laying along the bank.
There is always a considerable amount of dead things scattered about. I’m not sure if this stretch of river along the city of Harrisburg is unique in this aspect or not. I know that some of these poor creatures die from natural causes. That’s not an issue. However, from what I have seen many of them are helped along by the ignorant population of juvenile delinquents that call Harrisburg their home.
It wasn’t surprising to come across this Heron. I was however, thankful that it didn’t have a fishing line wrapped around its neck.
