Hybrid Tomatoes You Say?

Way back in the Summer of 1982 BC (before children,) somewhere close to the time that Robrandi and I got hitched, we lived in an apartment on South Union Street in Middletown. At this time I had a very nice pot of hybrid tomatoes growing inside our apartment.

One weekend we had a visit from Robrandi’s grandmother, Grammy Liebegott, god rest her soul. So you know, Grammy Liebegott, was original “Queen of Snooping Around In Other People’s Biznet”.

Despite our best efforts we were not able to conceal my crop of hybrid tomatoes. We had them hidden in the closet in our bedroom. That didn’t stop her.  She found the pot (don’t get excited, that’s what the tomatoes are planted in cee) and immediately proceeded to ask Robrandi what kind of plants were we growing in our closet. Robrandi being the quick thinker that she is said, “well Grammy they’re tomatoes”….. to which Grammy replied, “I’ve been growing tomatoes a long time and I’ve never seen any that look like that”. “Well Grammy they’re Jim’s Hybrid Tomatoes” Robrandi answered. And that’s the story we’re sticking with…
